    • Sustainable material made from recycled clothing

    • Flexible, dimensionally stable and highly durable

    • Acoustic and thermal insulation

Ecosorb Metisse is a sustainable acoustic product with excellent sound-absorbing properties. With a thickness of 45 mm, this product offers an absorption coefficient of 0.95. It is dimensionally stable, flexible, and strong, with a consistent composition. Moreover, it has an expected lifespan of 75 years. The 45 mm variant can be stacked when enclosed within a wall without losing its sturdiness. In addition, the 80 mm variant combines high acoustic performance with strong thermal insulation.

Ecosorb Metisse consists of 77% recycled clothing. Métisse cotton insulation provides an environmentally friendly solution for cavity filling in roof, wall, and floor insulation. It can also be used as an eco-friendly sound-absorbing panel for industrial applications. Additionally, it is produced in Europe, contributing to a lower ecological footprint.

    Dimension

The panels have dimensions of 120 x 60 cm and are available in thicknesses of 20, 45 or 80 mm. Please note that the thickness of the panels has a tolerance of 10% due to the natural properties of the material.

    Features of Ecosorb
    • Density: 45kg/m³ (20 mm and 45 mm), 25kgm³ (80 mm)
    • Sustainable: Made from 77% recycled clothing, produced locally in Europe, and has a long lifespan, making it a sustainable solution.
    • Excellent sound absorption: High absorption value of 0.95 at a thickness of 45 mm, ensuring effective reduction of echo and reverberation.
    • Fire-resistant: Complies with Euroclass fire safety standard D, S2, d0 according to EN 13501-1.
    • Flexible, strong, and dimensionally stable: Retains its shape and performance even with prolonged use or light pressure.
    • Skin-friendly: Ecosorb Métisse is soft and does not cause itching or irritation, which is often the case with traditional insulation materials. No inhalable fibers are released during processing, making it pleasant to work with.
    • Moisture-resistant: This acoustic material has moisture-regulating properties, allowing it to absorb and gradually release moisture. However, it is not suitable for continuous saturation without proper moisture drainage.
    • Easy to install: Simple to cut, place, and secure.
    Applications

Ecosorb Métisse is a sound-absorbing cavity filler for walls, floors, and ceilings, as well as industrial enclosures, such as:

    • Acoustic material for use in sound-absorbing wall panels.
    • Sound absorption behind perforated ceiling systems and stretch ceilings.
    • Eco-friendly sound absorption in electrical cabinets.
    Absorption value

Ecosorb Metisse has an absorption coefficient of 0.95 at a thickness of 45 mm.

Why Ecosorb is better than glass wool and rock wool

Ecosorb is softer, more skin-friendly, and more environmentally friendly than traditional insulation materials such as glass wool and rock wool. It does not cause skin or respiratory irritation and contains no chemical binders. With comparable thermal and acoustic performance, Ecosorb is a sustainable and safe alternative.

    Fire Safety and Moisture Resistance

Ecosorb meets the fire safety standard Euroclass D, S2, d0 according to EN 13501-1.

This acoustic material is moisture-regulating. It can absorb moisture and gradually release it again. Of course, it should be prevented from becoming permanently soaked and unable to release moisture.

    FAQ

    What is Metisse insulation?

Metisse insulation is a type of sustainable insulation made from recycled cotton fibres, also known as cotton insulation. It offers excellent thermal and acoustic insulation properties. Metisse is thus a responsible alternative to traditional insulation materials.

    Is metisse biobased?

Yes, Métisse is classified as a biobased insulating material. It is largely made from recycled cotton fibres and meets the criteria of the RVO (Netherlands Enterprise Agency) for biobased insulation.

How does cotton insulation perform in terms of thermal insulation?

Cotton insulation offers excellent thermal insulation properties, comparable to traditional insulation materials such as glass wool and rock wool. Ecosorb Métisse cotton insulation has a high heat storage capacity, meaning it takes 6 to 8 hours for heat to fully penetrate the material.

    Can Ecosorb Metisse resist moisture?

This acoustic material can absorb moisture and gradually release it. However, it is not intended for the material to be constantly soaked and unable to release moisture. We compare our material to jeans, as it is made from recycled jeans. Just like a wet pair of jeans absorbs moisture in the rain and releases it when drying, our material can also absorb and release moisture.

Can Ecosorb Métisse be used as an underlay?

No, Ecosorb Métisse is not suitable as an underlay. Although it has excellent acoustic and thermal properties, the material is not designed to absorb vibrations. When subjected to direct load, such as in contact with a floor surface, it provides insufficient support or cushioning. As a result, it loses its effectiveness as an underlay. However, Ecosorb Métisse can be used in hollow floors to create thermal and sound insulation in empty spaces.

For applications where sound dampening in the floor is desired, specially designed underlayment products are available, such as the EASYbond vibration insulation. Ecosorb Métisse is better suited for wall or ceiling applications, where it can optimally absorb sound without being directly subjected to load.
