Basotect melamine foam is a lightweight, fire-resistant, and sound-absorbing material. In addition to its sound-absorbing properties, the material has good thermal insulation value and is resistant to high temperatures. The material complies with fire class EN 13501-1 C, s2, d0 & B1 according to DIN 4102.
Basotect is used as a sound-absorbing and/or thermal insulating material in vehicles, machine enclosures, and in appliances and machines where the combination of good insulating properties, fire behaviour, and low weight is important. Additionally, the material is also used for acoustic solutions in spaces. Basotect melamine foam is produced in Europe. The standard panels measure 1200 x 600 mm in thicknesses of 30 and 50 mm and are available in white and light grey. Besides standard sizes, customised options are available on request.

Basotect melamine foam is sensitive to changes in humidity and temperature, which can cause the material to expand or contract. We recommend acclimatising the panels in the space where they will be used for at least three days before installation.
For visual applications where multiple panels are placed side by side, we recommend the Basotect Edge variant. Because the material is sensitive to shrinkage and expansion, the finished edges of this variant provide a sleek and neat appearance.
Melamine foam is a delicate material that is susceptible to damage and contamination. During installation, we recommend wearing disposable gloves.
Are you looking for a more robust alternative? Then choose Fireseal HR. Thanks to the fibreglass top layer, this material is impact-resistant and more resistant to dirt.
Basotect melamine foam is easy to glue with a Stauf | MKD Extreme Tack adhesive. Make sure the substrate is clean, dry, and grease-free.
The material is also easy to cut to size with a sharp (Stanley) knife.
Fire safety
This product has a B1-class certification according to the DIN 4102 standard and maintains its stability up to a temperature of 80 degrees Celsius.
Tolerances
Under the influence of humidity, the material can shrink or expand by approximately 5%.
It is possible that cavities and unevenness occur in the foam.
